Informa’s Art Toronto fair returns October 26-29

The four-day Art Toronto fair is set to take place October 26-29 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Founded in 2000, Informa Exhibitions’ Art Toronto is Canada’s international contemporary and modern art fair, located at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and throughout the city’s downtown core.Art Toronto 2018

Providing unique access to the Canadian art market, the fair is one of the most important annual art events in Canada. Now in its 19th year, Art Toronto presents important artwork from leading Canadian and international galleries combined with PLATFORM, the engaging series of lectures and panel discussions from prominent art world figures, curated projects, an extensive VIP Program, and top-tier cultural offerings throughout the city.

On October 25, the opening night gala at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is a unique and important benefit gala for the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO). Last year, the opening night gala welcomed more than 2300 guests and raised over $500,000 in support of AGO exhibitions, programming and artwork acquisitions.

Art Toronto Opening Night offers guests exclusive access to view and purchase works at the fair before it opens to the public. Alongside leading dealers and artists, guests toast the launch of the fair with delectable drinks, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and an artist project commissioned specifically for the evening.

Taking a central place at this year’s fair, PLATFORM is Art Toronto’s original series of lectures and panel discussions from prominent art world figures. Included within PLATFORM are POWER TALKS, a series of lectures organized in partnership with the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.

Expanding upon 2017’s FOCUS: Los Angeles, this year’s Art Toronto also returns with FOCUS: California. The interactive exhibit featuring galleries from California will be curated by Kim Nguyen (Curator and Head of Programs at the CCA Wattis Institute, San Francisco) and Glen Helfand (Associate Professor at California College of the Arts, San Francisco, independent writer and curator based in Oakland, California).
