Saskatchewan Design Week comes to Regina and Saskatoon in 2019

The Design Council of Saskatchewan has announced that the biennial Saskatchewan Design Week will take place from October 19-25 next year. Set to be jointly hosted in Regina and Saskatoon, the Saskatchewan Design Week is a biennial event organized by the Design Council of Saskatchewan. It is an invitation to learn about different areas of design through a series of free lectures and other educational events, all open to the general public.

Design Week also includes the Premier’s Awards of Excellence in Design which recognizes the great design being done right here in Saskatchewan. Entries for this prestigious competition are displayed to the public and awards are handed out at an evening gala at the conclusion of Design Week.

The Premier’s Awards of Excellence in Design categories are as follows: architecture, engineering and geoscience, graphic design, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, and integrated design (an integrated entry demonstrates significant involvement of three or more member associations throughout the project and cannot be entered in any other category).

A jury composed of one representative from each member association (and may include invited guests from the Design Week Speakers Series) evaluate entries on criteria appropriate to each category.

The competition is open to certified individuals and corporate members who are in good standing with a DCS member association. Entries must be designed in Saskatchewan by Saskatchewan personnel and have been completed within the two-year period prior to Design Week.

A volunteer organization formed in 1983, The Design Council of Saskatchewan is the collective voice of six provincial associations representing design professionals working in the disciplines of architecture, planning, engineering & geoscience, graphic design, interior design and landscape architecture.
