Rado Star Prize accepting submissions ahead of IDS Toronto

The Rado Star Prize Canada 2019 will challenge entrants to explore the influence nature can have on functional design for daily use through materials, colours and textures. The material, the look or the design of the object should be a tribute to the theme of ‘Design Inspired by Nature.’ The fields of Design can be Interior, product, industrial, lighting, landscaping, architecture & graphic design. Any design incorporating a design for a watch or other timepiece will not be accepted or considered. Submissions are now open, with entries being accepted until November 9, 2018.Rado Star Prize, IDS Toronto

Nine finalists and one winner of the Rado Star Prize Canada 2019 will be chosen by a specialist jury comprising representatives of IDS, Rado and specially selected industry experts. The winner will receive $5,000 as well as a Rado True Thinline watch. All finalists will also have the opportunity to display their concepts at IDS Toronto in January 2019. An additional prix du public winner, selected through online voting, will also be rewarded at the end of the show.

The Rado Star Prize, which is held internationally to promote the work of young designers, is another example of Rado’s continued collaboration with the world of design. This year for the first time in collaboration with IDS.

Design-driven Swiss watchmaker Rado is pleased to announce its partnership with Canada’s premier design fair, Interior Design Show (IDS), as part of the brand’s global commitment to design. The partnership will see Rado host installations at the Vancouver and Toronto editions of IDS and run its famous Rado Star Prize competition in Canada for the first time.
