Friday is the day! Send us your best work!
We’re only days away from the deadline to submit your Project and Product to the Canadian Interiors Best of Canada Awards competition: submissions are due on Friday, May 8.
The Best of Canada is the country’s only design competition focusing on interior design projects and products without regard to size, budget or location. Submissions are welcome from interior designers, architects, landscape architects, decorators, crafts persons and design students.
At 23 years and counting, the Best of Canada design competition is not only alive and well, but also healthier than ever. This annual awards program was created to showcase innovation, originality, and excellence within the interior design industry. It celebrates the outstanding work done consistently by our A+D industry peers and is an opportunity for projects to be reviewed by top industry professionals.
Projects and products are each judged anonymously and on their individual merit by a jury of esteemed architecture and design professionals, each expert in their areas of focus. All winners will be published in the Awards issue of Canadian Interiors, with the Project of the Year winner featured on the cover. Additionally, the Judges’ Pick winner of the Products category will receive a trip package (incl. flight + hotel) to Paris, France to attend Maison+Objet as a VIP in January 2021, courtesy of Maison+Objet.
Projects must have been completed between June 2018 and June 2020. The project must be either located in Canada, or an international project where a member of the design team is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Products must be physically prototyped; or if in production must have been launched in the market in the same timeframe.

Last year was a truly great year for Canadian interior design. Need proof? Take a look at the two top winners from 2019’s Best of Canada.

Toronto-based Guido Costantino Projects won Project of The Year designation for the beautiful Biscotteria Forno Cultura in Toronto’s Union Station, and graced the cover of the July-August 2019 issue. Jurors were impressed by such a lexical coherency between honest materials, concealed functionalities, textures and simplified forms in such a tiny but tranquil space.

Vancouver-based MIZA Architects picked up the Judges’ Pick Award for their Cross Laminated Table, and for their efforts both Michael Wartman and David Zeibin, principals of MIZA Architects, were invited to to Paris, France to attend Maison+Objet as a VIP in January, 2020, courtesy of Maison+Objet.
