Ceramic Tile: The Shadow of Cersaie
Although a traditional live trade show was cancelled due to pandemic concerns, that did not stop companies from launching ceramic tile products through a mix of digital and in-person events.
Summer | Fap Ceramiche
Modeled after handmade terracotta tiles, the Summer collection features 10 variegated colours inspired by those found in nature: Terracotta, Brezza, Sabbia, Sciara, Crepuscolo, Vento, Sale, Mare, Oliva and Ombra. A 3D option, Slot, brings tactility to the wall tiles, while two decors – Flower and Track – feature glossy reliefs on a matte background, reflecting the light.
Soda | Ceramica Bardelli
A collaboration with Ukrainian interior designer Daria Zinovatnaya, this new collection is playful and expressive. The 10”x10” porcelain floor and wall tiles come in a matte finish and 16 decorative patterns reminiscent of traditional cement tiles. The mix of colours and geometric shapes allow for variable layout schemes, and when combined with the complementary solid tiles in Ivory, Light Grey, and Dove Grey, they can be made to simulate a ceramic rug.
Metallica | Viva
Designed for modern, avant-garde interiors, these porcelain floor and wall tiles feature an iridescent finish and dramatic streaks reminiscent of sheet metal. The collection is further enhanced by the MetalBrick format: inspired an ancient Japanese pottery technique called Raku, these bricks come in five accent colours to complement the metallic slabs.
Wonderwall | Cotto d’Este
Now available in a new 20”x40” format in five elegant decors, the graphics feature floral motifs and sophisticated patterns reminiscent of fabric. Measuring just 3.5mm thick, these ultra-thin, large-format slabs are reminiscent of wallpaper yet with the high-performance benefits of porcelain stoneware. www.cottodeste.com
Keynote | Ceramica Fondovalle
Composed of porcelain stoneware, Keynote tiles are made to resemble a heterogeneous mixture of cement, rock fragments, and other natural materials. The six colours of Pearl, Amber, Cocoa, Arctic, Cool Grey, and Titanium have been designed as a complement to the brand’s Res Art collection.
Concert | Edimax Astor
With black and white porcelain tiles resembling Carrara marble and Flemish bluestone, this collection recalls the peaceful setting created by Johannes Vermeer in his painting The Concert. The collection’s palette and formats, inspired by the chessboard and geometric floors typical of 17th century Dutch households, are available in square, rectangular, and hexagonal formats along with several coordinated mosaics for wall applications.
Marvel Shine | Atlas Concorde
In collaboration with Savema, an international marble supplier, this new collection captures the purity of Italian white marble with authentic veining available in a silk, polished, or matte finish, in a wide range of decorative mosaics, geometric formats and four colourways: Calacatta Delicato; Calacatta Prestigio; Statuario Supremo; and Calacatta Imperiale.
Chimera | CEDIT
Designed by artist Elena Salmistraro and named after the mythical creature of Greek tradition, this exploration of colour and geometry features Art Déco graphic motifs, three-dimensional textures, and designs inspired by Gunta Stölzl and Anni Albers. The large format porcelain slabs measure 6mm thick and are available in 20 colourways spanning four graphic themes.
