Toronto designer creates custom furniture for Drake and Roc Nation
What’s better than one rap mogul? Two. That’s if you are Ranbir Sidhu, a Toronto-based designer who facilitated a custom OVO table to Drake — a piece that Sidhu designed and produced exclusively for the rapper that is now placed within his Toronto home.
This follows on the heels of a project that Ranbir completed for Jay-Z/Roc Nation, as the designer continues to service the bespoke design needs of some of hip hop’s biggest names.
Inspired by Drake’s music and OVO brand, Sidhu created intricate and detail-focused designs to produce pieces imagined from another realm in space.
Founder & Principal Designer of FUTUREZONA, and passionate about the limitless possibilities of cultural design and exploration, Sidhu’s eye for quality combined with modern-day engineering and futurism allows him to conceptualize, and then create functioning art.
Prior to designing for Toronto’s Very Own, Sidhu took the simple concept of the Roc Nation logo and manifested it into a playful and bold paper airplane design (symbolic of Roc Nation branding).
The engineered table was designed into a fully functional piece of furniture and art, using glass and gold materials with seamless manufacturing. For this piece, Sidhu borrowed inspiration from the Marcy Projects that Jay-Z grew up in, and when approached by the Roc Nation team, the designer created a brand new plan incorporating additional details for a desk with the company’s philosophies in mind. Based on that interest, a suite of Roc Nation items were created, showcasing Ranbir’s abilities and the possibilities for custom development.
