Spanish outdoor furniture brand Vondom opens new Canadian flagship store

ARD Outdoor and Vondom have come together to present a showcase of sustainable design in the heart of Toronto’s design district in a new venture that will serve as Vondom’s first flagship showroom in Canada. The 7,000-sq.-ft. store will offer Toronto residents a design destination closer to home, featuring avant-garde design furniture suitable for indoors and outdoors.

“We are thrilled to open this brand new flagship store in Toronto and continue to support Vondom’s expansion in Canada” says Richard Bockner, owner and principal of ARD Outdoor. “We have seen the local demand and support for Vondom from carrying the brand in our store’s shop-in-shops. The launch of a dedicated store will offer Toronto residents an immersive experience to shop the brand’s cutting-edge designs with expanded selection.”

Known for its outdoor furniture, planters, table and outdoor lamps and various decorative accessories, the Spanish designer brand’s new showroom will host a rotating display of pieces and collections from internationally-renowned designers such as Ramón Esteve, Eugeni Quitllet, Teresa Sapey, Eero Aarnio and Stefano Giovanoni, to name a few. The space will also house accessories such as the new outdoor rugs made from recycled plastics, lamps, and planters to create a cozy atmosphere in any outdoor space.

Gatsby

The Gatsby collection, designed by Ramón Esteve for Vondom, is named for the Great Gatsby, born in an age of prosperity, parties and excess. Esteve recalls the Art Déco lighting and the roaring twenties, the “American Dream.” This collection features a variety of designs rooted in texture and character.

Africa

The Africa furniture collection is designed by Eugeni Quitllet, for Vondom. The designer speaks of it saying, “The most simple things are the most original, the most original thing is to be simple.” Quitllet’s Africa Lounge Chair, a contemporary classic, will make its Canadian debut at the flagship store location.

The Factory

The Factory collection is another designed by Ramón Esteve for Vondom and is characterized by the aluminum profile and the “deployé” mesh. This aluminum outdoor furniture collection is composed of a modular sofa, an armchair, a lounger, a side table, a lamp, a coffee table, a high table, chairs, and a room divider.

Tulum

The Tulum collection by Catalan designer Eugeni Quitllet for Vondom is a set of pieces that bring a new dimension to the home, extending the demands and comfort of the interior to the exterior. Maintaining a superior quality capable of withstanding the environment with total naturalness, Quitllet softened the seating’s strong linearity by subtly curving the corners of the rigid frames and combining solid volumes with open voids that contribute a graphic quality.

The contemporary Canadian flagship store is inspired by Vondom’s Spanish roots, designed with an aesthetic that brings about a sense of calm and serenity. The store’s designers have taken inspiration from Vondom around the world, bringing Spain’s light and bright tones to the North, with integration of stunning natural elements. The infusion of natural materials will provide a timeless collision of classic design and future design trends. The style is modern and minimalist, with simple décor that makes the furniture the stars of the show. The space is completely diaphanous, making it easy to view all the collections.

Integration of teak elements throughout the showroom, elevate warmth and elicit a sense of relaxation. Concrete flooring elicits a sense of grit in the space and the showroom’s neutral colour palette style draws the eye to the furniture. The expansive windows and 12 foot ceilings create a light, airy feel throughout the open concept showroom as the 220 illuminated track lights add facet and meaning to each display. These design details contribute to the flow of restful energy throughout the store, translating the same ease that Vondom furniture brings to clientele spaces.

Stark matte black accent bookmark walls adorn the space, integrating composite polyvinyl chloride boards. The design is complemented with a medium-tone brown in the millwork of shelving, desk areas, door and window casings, and a fabric wall. Tying elements together, the space incorporates a quartz white and black countertop by Caesarstone for the refreshment area. A quartz feature wall is also included in the main bathroom hall.
