Edmonton Design Week will be making a comeback next week and is set to feature various exhibitions and events including  a tour of the architectural gem, the Galleria.

Hosted by Media Architecture Design Edmonton (MADE), Edmonton Design Week started as a way to celebrate design in the city. The event is run by volunteers and enables visitors to explore the city’s diverse design world through interactive exhibitions and talks led by industry leaders.

The theme for Edmonton Design Week 2023 is “Meld” which aims to bring together all creative disciplines in Edmonton.

A kick-off party will take place on October 10 and various events and exhibitions will follow throughout the week. These include the tour of the Galleria, a gallery exhibition with work by Ralph Reichenbach, a Jobber Studio tour and a webinar featuring conversations with the Urban Design Awards jurors.

The Galleria is considered an example of “missing-middle” housing designed by Canadian architects John and Patricia Patkau. The tour will take place on October 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The walkthrough of the 6-storey building will provide guests with the opportunity to tour the interior of the private condominium while providing a historical overview of the architects, project history and an overview of the building’s design elements. Guests will also be able to experience the tropical-style atrium.

Edmonton Design Week will run until October 15, 2023.

Tickets for the tour are on sale now for $20. For more information, click here.
