French furniture company Roche Bobois is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Canada along with the reopening of its Montréal location after having undergone renovations.
The Montréal location was designed by architectural firm Bureau Architecte. The nature-inspired space features a new area which is dedicated to advisory services and 3D simulations to help with the visualization and personalization of interior design projects.

The journey of Roche Bobois began in 1960 with Philippe and François Roche, who met two brothers who owned a shop named Au Beau Bois. With all four of them sharing a love for modernism, they quickly formed an alliance that inspired a transition from craftspeople to importers and distributors of European designs.

The company, which aims to celebrate the French “art de vivre,” opened its first North American store in Québec in 1973 which offered contemporary high-end furniture.
The company now has a total of 31 stores in the United States and seven in Canada, with plans to open five more by the end of this year.

The Roche Bobois US/Canada market has also accounted for 33.5 per cent of total sales in the first half of 2022, making it the company’s largest market worldwide, in comparison to 29.4 per cent in France.
