To address the need for increased regulation of the interior design profession, along with a desire for a strategic advocacy front, the Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ) and the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) have announced the launch of a joint initiative, the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative.
This new initiative represents an alliance between two organizations committed to protecting the integrity and standards of interior design, and the health, safety, and welfare of the public. By combining resources and networks, the Canadian Advocacy Collaborative will support the development and promotion of public policy that upholds professional standards and safeguards the public interest.
The benefits of this collaboration will be made available to CIDQ member jurisdictions in Canada, offering them tools, guidance, and support in their advocacy efforts.
“IDC looks forward to collaborating with CIDQ on this initiative to help support provincial associations in their efforts to pursue increased regulation of the interior design profession in their jurisdictions,” said Trevor Kruse, IDC CEO.

The application period for participation in the initiative will open in September. More details, including eligibility criteria and application guidelines, will be shared in the coming weeks.
