Cosentino and DesignTO Launch Call for Submissions for Éclos Capsule Collection Competition
This initiative, which is open to Canadian designers living in Canada and abroad, invites proposals for furniture, objects, or sculptural work that explore the creative potential of Éclos®, Cosentino’s next-generation mineral surface.
Cosentino, in collaboration with DesignTO, has announced a Canada-wide call for submissions for the 2026 Éclos Capsule
Collection Competition.
This initiative, which is open to Canadian designers living in Canada and abroad, invites proposals for furniture, objects, or sculptural work that explore the creative potential of Éclos®, Cosentino’s next-generation mineral surface. Bringing together material innovation and design experimentation, the Éclos Capsule Collection challenges designers to move beyond traditional surface applications and engage the material in three dimensions.
Éclos® introduces a new category of mineral surfaces defined by its design and composition. Enabled by Cosentino’s proprietary Inlayr® technology, the material delivers three-dimensional patterning throughout the entire surface, with durability and performance. Developed through various hours of research and testing, Éclos® features a formulation that includes zero crystalline silica and a high proportion of recycled materials.
Winning designs will be fabricated in Toronto, professionally documented, and exhibited in Canada and the United States, offering an opportunity for designers to bring new work into production and public view. Selected designers will also receive a $1,000 CAD artist fee, fabrication of their design, professional documentation, and exhibition and press exposure.
Submissions will be reviewed by a jury representing art, design, and media including HaeAhn Kwon, artist and assistant professor, NSCAD University, Luca Nichetto, industrial designer and creative director, Elizabeth Pagliacolo, editor in chief, AZURE Magazine; executive editor, Design Milk, Nicholas Sangaré, industrial designer, and Brigitte Shim, architect, Shim-Sutcliffe Architects.
The competition is open to Canadian designers, including students and professionals, whether based in Canada or abroad. The deadline is May 22, 2026.
