The second phase of a wedding and event venue begun in 2020 transforms a former agricultural barn into a gathering space shaped as much by atmosphere as function. Rather than falling into overt historicism clichés, the design draws selectively from Gothic architecture to create a sense of quiet reverence suited to weddings and communal rituals. Pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, and vertically scaled windows lend the interior a monastic calm, yet the overall effect remains warm and approachable rather than ceremonial. Natural light becomes a defining material, shifting across lime-washed walls and hand-split Italian marble floors throughout the day, softening the building’s monumental geometry. Oversized arched openings and expansive glazing dissolve the threshold between interior and surrounding farmland, grounding the space firmly within its pastoral setting. Sculptural interventions, including a stone-like bar and softly illuminated washrooms, introduce moments of intimacy that balance the Loft’s soaring scale.
