The Interior Design Institute of British Columbia (IDIBC) held its annual Awards of Excellence in Vancouver, Feb. 13, 2007. The awards celebrate excellence in interior design throughout British Columbia. Submissions are from members of both the IDIBC and the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC). The categories of the competition include workplaces; residential; retail, kiosks and boutique; healthcare facilities; restaurant, bar and club; and hotels, public and institutional spaces. Also, a special environmental award is given as well as a best of show award.
Gold winners include: MCM Interiors for their Electronic Arts Campus Expansion project (workplaces and best of show), Proscenium Architecture & Interiors for their Vancouver office (workplaces), HB Design Consultants for a private Vancouver residence (residential), Penner & Associates Interior Design for the CPR Arbutus Lands Public Info Centre (hotels, public & institutional spaces and the environmental award), e+ Design and Construction for Earls St. Vital (restaurant, bar and club) and M Studio Design Consultants for the Ocean Club (restaurant, bar and club).
The IDIBC is a professional self-regulatory body for interior designers in British Columbia and serves both the public and the interior design industry. Submission kits for the 2008 Awards of Excellence will be available June 1.
