Two new categories and a nine-year track record meant a deluge of entries for the 10th annual Best of Canada Design competition, celebrating excellence and creativity in Canadian design. As Canadian Interiors went to press, entries were still being tabulated.
The competition this year will judge entries for projects; products; lighting as the primary project design element; landscape design; and student design. Winners will be featured in the July/August issue of Canadian Interiors and celebrated at a gala awards evening at the Design Exchange in Toronto, Sept. 26. Their work will also be on exhibit at the Design Exchange from Sept. 24 to Oct. 28.
Judging the entries this year are: Colleen Baldwin, Straticom Planning Associates, Toronto; Jack Diamond, Diamond + Schmitt Architects, Toronto; Joan Eiley, Joan Eiley and Associates, Toronto; Mark Muller, Nienkmper, Toronto; David Oleson, Oleson Worland Architect, Toronto; Joe Pettipas, HOK, Toronto; Shelly Penner, Penner & Associates Interior Design, Vancouver; and Robert Ruscio, Ruscio Studio, Montreal.
Top winners, as determined by the judges, will get special awards, as will winners selected by the public through online voting at www.canadianinteriors.com or by mailed or faxed ballots.
