Call2Recycle, a North America-wide free rechargeable battery and cell phone collection program, has announced the election of John Bradford, Chief Innovations Officer for Interface Americas, Division of Interface Inc., to the RBRC Board of Directors. The RBRC Board operates Call2Recycle, which recently announced a record-breaking 6.7 million pounds of rechargeable batteries collected in 2010.
Joining the RBRC Board of Directors from outside of the battery and small electronics industry, Bradford brings a wealth of experience in sustainable innovation, operations and structuring organizations for industry leadership and growth. In his current role, he is among the leaders working to bring Interface Americas toward becoming the first sustainable enterprise company by 2020.
“Call2Recycle’s position in the marketplace is evolving rapidly as legislation is introduced to meet new demands surrounding battery recycling,” said Carl Smith, president and CEO of Call2Recycle. “John will provide our Board of Directors with proven insight from a broader sustainability spectrum that will help us to plan for the future as we raise our role in the environmental arena.”
“With the leadership of the RBRC Board, Call2Recycle has established a footprint of influence and generated strong battery recycling results,” said Bradford. “I look forward to working with the organization to further its position of leadership in unifying industries to create responsible end-of-life solutions for the products they make.”
Call2Recycle collects batteries and cell phones through its network of more than 30,000 retailers, communities, businesses and public agencies across North America. For additional information about the organization, visit call2recycle.org.
