As a leading manufacturer in the field of sauna and spa, KLAFS presented a unique example of individualism at the Milan Furniture Fair: the Tangram spa combination. Within an elegant space it combines sauna, steam bath, shower area and relaxation zone. The exciting design is an expression of modern lifestyle.
Interior architectural trends are moving in the direction of living concepts with open room structures. Individual areas merge into each other to become beneficially connected living units. That is also the case with the new Tangram spa combination by KLAFS, which opens up transparently to the room. An interplay of different temperature zones and bathing forms creates a unit that promotes health and enables regeneration at the highest level.
The large glass front provides a view of the attractive interior, consisting of sauna, steam bath and a shower area, which combines both bathing forms. Here, the steam bath “is dominated essentially by the strict geometric structures and the material characteristics of glass, metal and stone. In contrast, the floral, irregular golden pattern on a black background has a strong emotional impact,” explains designer Martin Schultheiss. Inside the sauna the walnut wood decorates the walls and different eye catchers give it a unique appearance and function. A substructure, set back in a spatially ingenious manner, gives the reclining surface swinging character. The headrests are also original: they are hung from a joint in the wall and thus fit in perfectly with the modern appearance. The oven below the bench also deserves particular attention. It creates space and provides pleasant infusions automatically at the touch of a button.
The combining element of the cubicles is the shower and cooling-down area, which is made from natural black stone. A ramp, which allows barrier-free access to the Tangram, leads from here to the relaxation zone of the spa combination. This serves as a space to pause and reflect, and with its Sway relaxation swing it increases mental relaxation while improving regeneration.
The controls of the spa combination form an elegant solution from the capable hands of KLAFS: the Touchcontrol Professional, with colour touch screen, an especially large monitor and an intuitive user interface. Thanks to the latest technology it saves energy and operating costs and starts the individually programmed bathing experience at the simple touch of a button. In addition, the issue of sustainability receives great attention in the new Tangram, with the installation of the green sauna package and the green steam package in the steam bath – energy consumption is reduced noticeably.
With its exemplary spa concept Tangram, KLAFS demonstrated at the Salone Internazionale de Mobile 2012 in Milan just how a product can promote health by means of the harmonious interplay of modern technology and innovative comfort. Furthermore, the intelligent floor plan concept within a complex space convinces with refined elegance and individuality.
