IMM Cologne 2024
Roughly 42,000 visitors gathered at this year's edition of IMM in Cologne, Germany, where around 750 exhibitors from 42 countries showcased their products.
IMM Cologne, known as a showcase for innovations in the international residential furnishing and design industry, returned to Germany this month.
The event, which took place from January 14 to 18, 2024, offered a platform for global furniture manufacturers and designers to reunite with the international furniture trade and design community.
This year’s central theme and innovative trade fair concept was “The Circles” which gathered roughly 42,000 visitors from 129 countries to experience booths from around 750 exhibitors from 42 countries across an exhibition area of 137,000 square metres.
IMM Cologne featured a diverse line-up of event highlights which were designed to promote exchanges between trade fair participants in line with its motto, “Connecting Communities.” The concept for “The Circles” was developed by drawing on this idea.
The event brought the theme of community to life with various interlinked content and event formats. The circular event spaces were spread across the entire exhibition area, which acted as gathering places for participants.
Event highlights included the IMM Cologne Summit, hosted in collaboration with the VDM and the BVDM. The congress highlighted opportunities for the industry and outlined approaches to prepare for the future. Insights into what’s in store for interior design were also provided by the Pure Talents Contest.
The prestigious design competition, now in its 20th edition, celebrated up-and-coming talent with a record number of over 1,000 submissions. The designs focused on working with sustainable materials as well as exploring circular product concepts.
The Circular Cooperation Network Day (CCND), hosted with the initiative FURNITURE 4.0, also discussed ideas on the challenges of transitioning to a circular use of resources.
Installations by renowned design studios and well-known influencers also enriched the trade fair by giving participants a look into the latest design trends. IMM Cologne 2024 also hosted several other standout events, including a programme of speakers, which was jointly curated with the magazine H.O.M.E. and the platform Architonic.
The PASSAGEN Interior Design Week took place alongside IMM Cologne this year. Across Cologne’s downtown area, a diverse programme of events was hosted that featured around 150 exhibitions in various showrooms, galleries, furniture stores, cultural institutes, museums and universities. This line-up once again transformed Cologne into a magnet for design lovers from around the world.
The next edition of IMM Cologne is set to take place from January 12 to 16, 2025.
