Behavioral Health Ceiling System by Armstrong

Behavioral Health Ceiling System | Armstrong

The Armstrong MetalWorks Torsion Spring for Behavioral Health Ceiling System, designed for the wellness and safety of occupants, aims to be a solution for meeting strict requirements in new construction and renovation projects. The 30″ x 30″ ceiling panels come standard in a Whitelume colour, are made of 15 per cent recycled content, and have an ASTM E84 Class A Fire Performance rating. The ceiling panels also offer an M17 perforated option that, when paired with a factory-applied acoustical fleece and fiberglass infill, can achieve 0.90 NRC. Locking clips and stud bracing provide an added level of safety by securing ceiling panels in place and preventing unintended removal.

The ceiling system, which has been tested and approved by the New York State Office of Mental Health, is recommended in its 34th edition Patient Standards, Materials and Systems Guidelines, in support of the agency’s goal to reduce risk of harm to individuals in in-patient settings.

“The healthcare industry is constantly evolving, putting added pressure on facility managers and operators to elevate strategies for prioritizing wellness and safety,” said Andy Lake, senior product manager, metal interiors, Armstrong World Industries. “Many people look at ceilings for their functionality and design, never considering that, in a mental health environment, they could present risk of self-harm or an opportunity to hide illicit items. In designing our MetalWorks Torsion Spring for Behavioral Health Ceiling System, Armstrong made all the critical considerations to ensure our solution supports each patient’s safety and journey to healing as well as provides their family and staff with peace of mind.”

Slot Tile Square Diffuser by Invi Air

Slot Tile Square Diffuser | Invi Air

Invi Air’s latest product, the Slot Tile Square Diffuser, allows for the creation of designs with a diffuser that blends in with tile grid ceilings. It is suitable for acoustical and tile grid ceilings, and provides a clean, blended look to accommodate high airflow requirements. The diffuser comes as a kit with the plenum box and is designed to fit into a standard 24-inch x 24-inch T-bar and drop ceiling grids. Invi Air can retrofit existing duct openings or correctly size a Slot Tile Square Diffuser to meet specific airflow needs.

The Tile Square Diffusers are crafted from Invi Air’s composite diffuser material, and engineered to minimize condensation, static, and dust buildup. This material enables versatile use for supply and return applications, and delivers a flush finish that matches the depth of the other tiles to blend in with the ceiling.  The design also meets lower noise criteria, ensuring quieter operation, and the product is ASTM E 84 Class A rated and complies with CARB Phase II standards.
