Leg warmers for table bases? If that sounds like a “stretch,” Nienkämper’s new collection, designed by modusID, includes wall-mounted tables, media wall tables and smaller meeting tables seemingly inspired by Gumby, the 1950s stop-motion clay animation cartoon humanoid. They boast a tactile feature that adds warmth to any office setting: the Flex-Knit ribbed elastic textile base. Rigid oval rings at the top and bottom of the base act as structural anchors for the knit textile sleeve, which forms a continuous, tensile silhouette. An internal telescoping mechanism allows the top ring to move vertically, enabling smooth height adjustment while the knit material adapts and maintains tension. Even when stretched, the fabric retains its opacity, ensuring a clean, consistent appearance. Its textured surface adds depth and visual interest while remaining durable and functional. The knit-to-shape manufacturing process eliminates the need for cutting and stitching, producing a seamless textile structure with minimal material waste.
